Some of our readers want to know if there are any Super Hero model train sets that exist.  The truth is we had to do some research.  Most hobby stores that we checked do not have any super hero train sets for sale. So we decided to start digging.  We checked sites like Ebay and Amazon to see if any new train sets were out there and what size and scale existed.  We found only a few sellers selling some older cheesy type of batman train sets that almost looked like they were made by the person that was selling them.  So the search continued. Finally a breakthrough!

The Bradford exchange offers two super hero sets which are awesome.  The batman train set is full of details and is very affordable.  The train sets sells for $85 and would make a wonder full addition to any model railroader.

Spider-Man Train Set

The Bradford exchange also has an Amazing-Spiderman train set for sale.  It is much like the Batman set and except with images of Spider-man on the train as well as a figure on top of the train.  Both train sets are HO Scale which is very important.  Both trains have amazing details and are very durable from the reviews that we have read.  We have recently heard rumors that Lionel train sets will also soon be available that would include other DC and Marvel characters. There are many pitchers that have played the game of baseball.  Some of their baseball cards are quite valuable.  Some of these great pitchers cards are very hard to find.  All of these baseball cards make great investments if they are purchased at the right price.  One of the key things to consider when buying these baseball cards is the condition that the cards are in.  The better the condition the more the cards are worth.  Here is a list of some of the best baseball pitchers cards of all-time.

Cy Young- Some of the best Cy Young cards are from 1909-1910.  The T206 baseball cards are some of the most coveted cards in the hobby.  These cards can sell for thousands of dollar in off-grade condition.

Nolan Ryan- The value of Nolan Ryan baseball cards has changed over the years. The best Nolan Ryan rookie card is his 1968 Topps card.  This card is still reasonably priced and makes a great investment.  Many of these cards have centering problems which makes well centered cards worth even more money.

Greg Maddux- Maddux is probably the greatest pitcher of the 80’s and 90’s.  He won multiple Cy Young awards and has a few rookie cards that are worth buying.

Roger Clemens- Clemens dominated opposing hitters.  Roger Clemens rookie cards are worth purchasing at the right price.  Some of the best baseball cards that he has is his Donruss and Fleer Update rookie cards.

Tom Seaver- Seaver pitched for one of the greatest teams in baseball history.  The Reds were one of the best teams in the 70’s. One of his best baseball cards is his 1967 rookie card.  These cards are very hard to find with nice corners.  If you can find these cards in NM-MT or better condition they are well worth the money.

Sandy Koufax- The lefty hurler was one of the most dominating pitchers of the 50’s and 60’s. He helped the Dodgers win a few World Series games and was virtually un-hittable when he was on his game.

If you are excited that the new Smallville starts on Friday than you will be even happier if you are card collector.  Smallville cards will be hitting the shelves in late October with new set featuring all of your favorite characters.  These cards will have especially inserted used gear of Clark, Lois and the whole crew.  You will also be able to get authentic autograph or signed cards of you favorite characters as well. There were a few rumors that there would actually be two different series of these collectible cards but DC has not yet to release the information as of yet.  You can purchase the cards at your local card store, Walmart or the Baseball Card Shop.  The price has not yet to be released but should be very reasonable.  Just make sure that you buy a full box instead of just one pack at a time as you will end up paying double for the box when its done.  You will also be able to buy boxes on ebay.  A great new set for the Smallville Series.

If you have not played the new Batman: Arkham Asylum you need to get up and go buy it right now.  I do not work for any company nor am I promoting it to make money off this site.  The game is just sick.  The game starts with Batman taking the Joker in to Arkham Asylum which is located on a remote island.  Joker gets free and Batman is placed in a situation were he must fight off many of his old foes including the Scarecrow, Bane, Poison Ivy, and Harley Quinn to name a few.

The game is very dark and gives the mood very similar to the Dark Knight movie.   The graphics are stunning and create a mood that will make you want to sit for hours.  This game really gets you immersed in the environment and is not just a fighting shoot’em type game.  Amazing!

I was at Comic Con a few weeks ago and noticed that it is becoming very popular to have your comic cards professionally graded. Many dealers had there Marvel masterpiece cards graded by companies like PSA, Beckett and GMA Grading.  They all looked cool in the holders and the cards were slling for about $5-$10 more.  The rpoblem is it normally cost $5-$10 to have a card graded.  I call PSA and Gma Grading and GMa was the more affordable grading for as low as $2.00 per card.  Much like grading your baseball cards you have too wait about 5 -10 days to get your cards back.  I am going to give it a try and see how it works out.  I will keep everyone updated.

If you have been looking for ringers for your cell phone there are some great sites that have Batman, Superman and Spiderman ringback tones.  Companies like Marvel and DC have learned to capitalize from the licensing of these products sometimes charging $3 per download.  You can download the great theme songs from Superman or even greats like Chewbacca and Yoda talking from Star Wars.  If you search hard enough you will be able to find great ringback tones for free to help you save some money.  These free tones might not be as good as the licensed versions but does it really matter? I guess thats up to you.

The Comics Guaranty Company (CGC) is an enterprise that grades a comic according to its condition on the basis of certain criteria. CGC comics are typically sealed in a slice of plastic and tagged accordingly with its grade. When buying or selling comic books, the opinion of third parties is always important. Because of the good reputation of the grading company, CGC comics are often purchased by several people.

CGC has become the leader in comic book grading. A comic book that is not graded is often being sold at a very low price. Most comic buyers tend to choose comics that have been given a good grade by the CGC. Grading with CGC is quite easy. All that a comic book owner has to do is to fill out a CGC submission form that can be found at the grading company’s website and follow the rules that are being stated there. CGC is also accepting comics from Charter Member Dealers, Associate Members, Internet Partners and Authorized Member Dealers. Some of CGC’s Internet partners include Amazon, Coastline Comics, Heritage Comics, Incognito Comics, Diamond Galleries, Mile High Comics, Digital Webbing, A-1 Comics, Bill Cole Enterprises, Fantastic Select, eBay and Investment Collectibles. Graded comic books are often received after several days.

Several CGC comics can be found on various auction sites or online selling portals. One good example of this is eBay and Yahoo! auctions. Buying and selling CGC comics is fun and easy. Before purchasing CGC comics, it is wise to look for some examples or browse all the way through the websites’ ended auctions sections to have a good idea of what the CGC comics have been sold for. This could help consumers feel confident in what they are purchasing and if they are paying something that is worth their money.

There is a saying that “old is gold”. This can be applied to old comic books too. Today, old comic books worth a lot and they continue to go up to almost half of its original cost. Some really old comic books even cost more. The value of the old comic books is based on the demand for a certain class of books.
The prices of comic books have escalated because of different factors which include the increase in paper charges, the rise in printing fees as well as labor charges. First, if you want to know if that old Marvel comics are worth anything, take them to a reliable comic book expert at a collectible shop. There is a standard in determining the value of a comic book, which depends on the conic book’s quality. But this standard is not the be-all and end-all of old comic book pricing. They just ultimately give an idea how a certain title should be valued. The value of your comics is really determined by how much a collector is willing to shell out just for that copy.

Aside from quality, you should also determine if you are holding a relatively rare find. No matter its condition, if only a few copies of a certain issue exist, it will probably fetch a high value. An old Marvel comics with a few minor creases will or will not make you any money if there are many other copies of it exists. Look for price guides that list comic book rarities to be sure.

If you are holding a comic with a first appearance of an important character, for instance, an old Marvel comics with the first appearance of Spiderman, that comic is sure worth a significant sum of cash. A collector would pay you anything for it.

Comic books are once considered a cheap form of entertainment. But as years pass, these means of “cheap” entertainment can be valued higher than anyone can imagine.
